REINA DEL NORTE / Museum Installation

La Reina del Norte came about when I was asked to create a work of art for the 2003 Dia Day of the Dead exhibtion at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago. In considering what I might do I decided to use the opportunity to comment on the age old dilemma of immigration between Mexico and the United States. Looking at this work now in 2019 it tragically remains more relevant than ever. ~ Judithe Hernández
